Daegu
Found in South Korea’s North Gyeongsang Province, the list starts off with the cheapest option on the list: Daegu. Known for its medicinal history, as well as for the Daegu Yangnyeongsi Oriental Medicine Cultural Centre, this is a city scattered with medical tradition. With city centre property prices averaging at 6,166,666 Korean Won (£4,110) per square metre, and property outside the city centre averaging more around 4,750,000 Korean Won (£3,165) per square metre, you’ll find this to be the cheapest option on the list.
Busan
You might have heard this titular city named in the now acclaimed film ‘Train to Busan’, but don’t fret – instead of zombies, what this city actually hosts is a beautiful port and numerous beaches. All of which are good enough a reason to come to this city on their own! With city centre prices averaging at about 5,250,000 Korean Won (£3,500) per square metre, you’ll find this a much cheaper option than outside the city centre, where property prices rise to a much higher average of 7,082,344 Korean Won (£4,720) per square metre.
Jeju-si
Jeju-si, meaning Jeju city, is named as such due to the fact that it’s found in the Jeju province, and capitol of that province on Jejudo Island. It’s a resort-like city in most aspects, offering gorgeous sights and sounds to practically drown yourself in. Being such a popular seaside city, it stands to reasons that it’d be fairly expensive too. With prices for property averaging at about 8,443,125 Korean Won (£5,627) per square metre, and prices outside the city centre averaging more around 7,443,125 Korean Won (£4,960), it makes the list for 3rd most expensive city in Korea.
Incheon
Incheon is so expensive, partially on account of it bordering with the actual most expensive city in the country – that being Seoul. On its own, however, it functions as an ultra-modern transportation hub for the country. It’s a wonderful place to live and to shoot films, if a highly expensive one, with city centre home prices setting you back by about 12,000,000 Korean Won (£8,000) per square metre, and prices outside the city centre costing somewhere closer to around 8,250,000 Korean Won (£5,500) per square metre.
Seoul
Seoul was always going to be the obvious number one choice for this list. It’s been listed as the 7th most expensive city to live in, in the entire world, according to a 2019 survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit. It’s in this Korean capital where you’ll find apartment prices in the city centre averaging at about 22,056,402 Korean Won (£14,700) per square metres. Outside of the city centre, they’re at a much more affordable but still ridiculously high-priced 10,933,846 Korean Won (£7,286) per square metre. By far the most expensive city in all of South Korea.
